Q: What is Measure K?

A:   On July 18th, the Board of Trustees voted to place Measure K on the November 5th ballot. If adopted by voters, Measure K would improve local quality education by repairing old classrooms and schools, removing asbestos and lead pipes, upgrading older schools to meet current health, and building safety codes, and providing proper access for students with disabilities. 

Q: Is Measure K fiscally accountable?

A: Yes.  Measure K requires transparent accountability, including a project list detailing exactly how the money will be used, an independent Citizens' Oversight Committee, and public disclosure of all spending.

By law, all funds must be used for our local schools and cannot be taken by the County, state or federal governments.

Q: What school needs do YES on K address?

A: YES on K:  

recruits and retains quality teachers, provides modern science labs, career technical facilities and equipment — ensuring students are prepared for college and careers.

removes hazardous materials like asbestos and lead pipes from older schools.

upgrades older schools to current health and building safety and disability standards.

requires transparent accountability, including a project list detailing exactly how the money will be used, independent Citizens' Oversight, and public disclosure of all spending.

Q: When is the election?

A: Election Day is November 5, 2024. 

Vote by mail ballots will be mailed the week of October 7th.
